Diamonds attract grease and oils. Always put on your diamond jewelry after applying makeup, perfume, or lotions, and remove it first when returning home. Chemicals can dull the diamond's brilliance and may cause discoloration of metal settings over time.
The hardness of diamonds makes them resistant to scratches, but they can chip if struck hard enough. Remove diamond rings before gardening, cleaning, or any manual work.
Mix warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap in a small bowl. Avoid using any cleaners with bleach or abrasives.
Place your diamond piece in the solution and let it soak for 20-30 minutes. This loosens dirt and oil buildup.
Using a soft-bristled toothbrush (baby toothbrushes work well), gently scrub the diamond and setting. Pay special attention to the underside where oil accumulates.
Rinse under warm running water and pat dry with a lint-free microfiber cloth. Ensure the drain is closed or use a strainer.
